The Nederland High School volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Monday night after falling to Santa Fe, 3-0 in the bi-district round of the Class 5A state playoffs at Lee College in Baytown.

After a close loss in the first set, Nederland was never able to get back on track, eventually suffering a three-set sweep (25-23, 25-18, 25-14) at the hands of Santa Fe, which now advances to play Fort Bend Hightower in the area round.

Nederland entered the playoffs after a successful regular season during which the Lady Bulldogs finished third in District 21-5A.
“This whole year going into the offseason and preseason, we knew we were going to have to step up our level off competition on and off the court, with how much harder our district was going to be,” Nederland coach Allie Crommett said after the loss Monday night.

The Lady Bulldogs started off the season 1-10, a mark mostly due to a much stronger non-district schedule put together by Crommett than in years past.
“My kids were on board with wanting to beef up our schedule and make it harder to help them in the long run,” Crommett said.
“I admire them so much for their fight,” she continued. “Because any team starting their season 1-10 could have easily just thrown in the towel, but they never gave up. I think that speaks volumes to their character and the type of athletes I’m lucky enough to be around with everyday.”
